We’re incredibly proud to announce that Music Tech Fest founder Michela Magas has been named finalist in the prestigious European Union Women Innovators Prize 2017, a prize rewarding the outstanding achievements of women entrepreneurs and innovators.
The shortlist honours outstanding women entrepreneurs who have brought their breakthrough ideas to the market. Carlos Moedas, Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, said:
“The twelve finalists are all talented innovators with interesting stories to tell about breaking through barriers, taking risks and succeeding. Their stories can inspire other women and men to become innovators.”
Michela was asked to describe what she does in a one minute video. Watch it here.
Michela has been recognised for her work in building innovation ecosystems, and in particular for developing the Music Tech Fest community and #MusicBricks innovation toolkit that saw a range of creative inventions incubated to commercial prototype.
Nine women are finalists for the three prizes in the Women Innovators category, and three are finalists for the new prize for Rising Innovators under 30. The winners of the prizes will be announced on International Women’s Day - the 8th of March - but each finalist is awarded a trophy and celebrated in a gala event this evening in Brussels.
Huge congratulations to Michela - and to all of us, as she’s representing every woman innovator in our community of over 5,000 engineers, scientists, artists, inventors, researchers, industry, entrepreneurs, makers and hackers that make up the Music Tech Fest ecosystem.
