Interview: Michela Magas, Innovator

On International Women’s Day, 8th March 2017, the European Commission will announce the three winners of the 2017 Women Innovators Prize. MTF Founder Michela Magas is one of nine finalists for these prestigious awards.

A global community of innovators

It was a brilliant community of people ranging from neuroscientists to musicians, to projection mapping and fashion designers. It was an orchestra of mediums, and with all the collaborative excitement surrounding us, we had to push it to the max…

Music and the Innovation Economy

Music Tech Fest founder Michela Magas represented us at the opening keynote at the inaugural Slush Music event in Helsinki last week. Slush is the biggest startup, investor and entrepreneur event in Europe…

Our first #MTFSatellite event

The MTF crew went to Genoa, Italy to take part in the Orientamenti education fair and run an #MTFSparks music hack workshop for teens. It was our first #MTFSatellite – where we take parts of the Music Tech Fest and run them as individual modules outside of the main festival event.

#MTFSatellite: Genoa

Music Tech Fest is coming to Genoa, Italy as part of the Orientamenti fair next week. Orientamenti celebrates and shapes the future of learning, bringing together Europe’s top innovators in technology with teachers and the next generation of learners.

#MTFSparks: teenage music hackers

At #MTFBerlin with the help of leading UK educational expert Siobhan Ramsey, Tom Flynn and Daniel Lopez of Sandbox Education, in collaboration with creative education expert Alexandra Antonopoulou, the #MTFSparks built, tested and performed with their new inventions on the main stage at the festival.

Adventures in Accessible Music Tech

One of the things that’s most important to us at Music Tech Fest is the idea that music is for everyone. Not just to listen to, but to make. Removing barriers to participation is one of the great applications of music technologies.

#MusicBricks incubated team gets European funding

I expect you know someone who has some programming skills. Perhaps someone with a bit of experience with EEG brain-computer interfaces. I imagine that person would probably enjoy going to live for a while in Portugal and enjoy some neurotechnology work in the beautiful, sunny city of Porto with some brilliant members of the Music Tech Fest family.

SoundCloud teams up with #MusicBricks

#MusicBricks is exactly the sort of open and collaborative music creation SoundCloud is about. It opens up new options for makers and musicians to be creative and we’re excited to support it and see what amazing creations are born.

#MTFBerlin: Announcing…

People walked on the moon and they’re cloning sheep – so why can’t I dance while drumming?” LIZZY is a humanised drumkit – and she’s coming to perform at #MTFBerlin.
