Thanks to the British Council and the New Zealand Music Commission, Music Tech Fest Wellington at Sounds Aotearoa (26-28th Feb) is bringing together the worlds of DIY electronics, software wrangling and some good old-fashioned “number 8 wire” kiwi ingenuity to hack music with buckets of attitude and probably quite a lot of caffeine.
We want to know what music looks like. We plan to make music with unexpected objects. We are going to put music in places it might not belong.
With hack challenges and prizes from Baboom, Korg and Ableton - and with the help of some of the most creative proponents of technology in NZ music (Rhian Sheehan and Disasteradio), the Music Tech Fest Wellington hack event promises to think carefully about the intersection of music and technology - and then MISBEHAVE.
No future? No… Future!
