#MTFSparks Workshops

While Robyn’s Tekla is happening at Music Tech Fest, we’ll also be running music tech workshops for both boys and girls - and we’re looking for bright young Sparks (aged 6-16 years).

Music Tech Fest has 20 free places for friends and relatives of Tekla girls to attend the Sparks workshops. These places will be given on a first-come-first-served basis to people coming to the festival with Tekla participants.

We invite siblings, cousins, school friends and neighbours to tag along with the lucky Tekla participants and become part of Music Tech Fest.

The Sparks workshops are based on the Electronic School Concert programme from Denmark, led by Lars Juhl and the inspirational Lula Mebrahtu. Watch the video here:

Participants will learn to create their own songs using software on iPads and will perform their own compositions on stage at the festival.

There are two workshops on Saturday afternoon and another on Sunday morning.

We will also be hosting an exclusive workshop introducing Imogen Heap’s Mi.mu gloves for young people on Sunday afternoon. It’s a maker workshop where you’ll learn to sew, programme and perform with your own Mini.mu gloves. This will be followed by an interview with Imogen Heap on the festival stage that participants, parents and guardians are welcome to attend.

The workshops take place at the following times:

Saturday

12:30 - 14:30 (arrive at 12:00) - The Electronic School Concert

15:00 - 17:00 (arrive at 14:30) - The Electronic School Concert

Performance for both workshops will be held at 17:00 on the Showcase Stage.

Sunday

9:30 - 11:30 (Sunday arrive at 9am) - The Electronic School Concert

Performance will be at 12:00 on the Showcase stage

13:00 - 15:00 (arrive at 12:30) - Mini.mu gloves workshop

Imogen is interviewed on the Jazziz Lounge stage at 15:00

There’s plenty at Music Tech Fest to discover and explore outside of the workshop times, and the participants are given free entry to the whole festival weekend. Simply fill in the form below to be part of the fun…
